Cultural Apologies

While normally quite sensitive to cultural distinctions, I have made a terrible blunder. In my Christmas letter I errantly described Mulan as a Japanese princess. Whoops. My humble apologies to all. Even the cultually undereducated know the Disney version of Mulan includes repelling the Mongols, the Great Wall of China and the Emporer of China. To accompany my humiliation, I will post the following results:

What elementary school child uses the word errantly?  I am SO offended!

Classic Birth Order

Here is the classic Christmas picture.  No bribe on earth would have convinced Piper to cooperate.  The ultimate "screw you" from the youngest...thereby ensuring the oldest behaved so perfectly as to shame her.  Fortunately for her, she is immune to shame.  Merry Christmas and happy emotional domination!!

The Good Guys Just Get Better

I admit I've had a thing for U2 since 1983. Always my favorite - nothing can take their place. Here is another combo.

Christmas Crush

No earth-shattering news this week.  I just sent out our family Christmas letter - if I have missed any of you friends and family please speak up and I'll send it to you.  In the crush of Christmas celebrations, I am enjoying the special moments with my kids.  Little kids are so much fun at Christmas!  This weekend, we are headed to the Nutcracker and we'll cut down our tree, barring all blizzards.  I have been wrapping Christmas presents and celebrating Advent with the family and at church - a great experience for a non-liturgical soul.  My most interesting Christmas celebration may be the upcoming gift exchange at Durango High School.   I am assigned to bring a pot-luck dish based on my height.  The assignments go something like this:

5'0"-5'3 hot
5'4"-5'5" soft
5'6"-5'8" crunchy
5'9"and up....chewy

"Soft" it shall be!
